Manitoba Business Investor Stream
The Business Investor Stream (BIS) allows Manitoba to recruit and nominate qualified business investors and entrepreneurs from around the world who have the intent and ability to start or purchase businesses in Manitoba.
Two Pathways Available:
For applicants seeking to open a business in Manitoba
For those intending to establish and operate a farm operation in rural Manitoba
Note: The renewed Entrepreneur Pathway replaces the previous MPNP-B stream. Applicants are no longer required to submit a deposit of $100,000 to the Manitoba Government.
Entrepreneur Pathway Requirements
Personal Requirements
- 1Minimum of three years of full-time work experience in the past five years as a business owner or senior manager
- 2Minimum CLB/NCLC 5 in English or French
- 3Minimum Canadian high school certificate equivalent
- 4No minimum or maximum age (points allocated to candidates 25-49)
Business Requirements
- 1Minimum investment of $250,000 (Manitoba Capital Region) or $150,000 (outside Capital Region)
- 2Business must create or maintain at least one job for a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- 3Business plan required
- 4Business research visit required (within one year prior to EOI submission)
Adaptability Points
- Spouse has CLB/NCLC 5 or higher
- Proficiency in second official language
- Close relative in Manitoba for more than one year
- Child enrolled in Manitoba educational institution
- Completed study or employment in Manitoba
Additional Requirements
- $Minimum personal net worth of $500,000 (verified by third-party)
- ✓Business Performance Agreement must be signed after approval
Farm Investor Pathway Requirements
Farm Business Requirements
- 1Minimum of three years farm ownership and operation experience
- 2Minimum investment of $300,000 in eligible tangible assets
- 3Farm business plan required
- 4Farm business research visit to Manitoba required
Operational Requirements
- 1Must live on the farm and actively participate in management
- 2Farm must be in active primary agriculture production
- 3Business must be economically viable
- 4Must conduct value-added farm business activities
Additional Criteria
- Language interview conducted in English or French
- Must demonstrate practical farming skills and technical knowledge
- Operations must align with Manitoba's current farm industry
- Purely speculative activities or third-party managers not eligible
Financial Requirements
- $Minimum personal net worth of $500,000
- ✓Net worth verification by designated third-party
- ⏱Verification report must be submitted within 120 days of ITA
